Free Park Yoga classes at 4 All's Market Drayton hub
Free yoga sessions will be taking place every Sunday until mid-September at The Zone Community Hub in Market Drayton.
The one-hour classes, suitable for all ages and abilities, run from 9.30am and are led by Park Yoga – a national charity which delivers free outdoor community sessions across more than 60 towns and cities. In Shropshire, the sessions are being supported by Shopshire Council, Energize Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and ourselves.
No previous experience is needed to join in, as classes are beginner-level and aim to bring communities together to meet new people and practice yoga in an inclusive and relaxing environment. A yoga mat should be brought along by those who have one, or a blanket or towel can be used as alternatives – no other equipment is required.
Park Yoga Director Cathi Farrer-Mitchell said: As a charity, we want Park Yoga to be as accessible as possible, there’s no need to book and it’s free to attend. Last year, 31% of our participants had never done yoga before, so you won’t be alone if you’re new to yoga. Come along and give it a go, you won’t regret it!”
The sessions are supported by Yogi Tea, who will be giving out samples of some of their herbal tea blends during the summer.
Irene Ippolito, Brand Director for Yogi Tea at Euro Food Brands said: “I’m truly delighted about our new partnership between Yogi and Park Yoga: two organisations united by shared values of mindfulness, wellbeing, and community.
“It’s a privilege to support Park Yoga, a remarkable charity making yoga freely accessible to people of all ages and backgrounds. Together, we’re creating space for individuals connect to themselves and their communities.”
Councillor James Owen, Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Housing, added: “It’s great to see Park Yoga come to Shropshire and to Market Drayton in particular. This is a great, free activity that gets people involved with no equipment required. With this being the first time Park Yoga has been delivered in Shropshire, I really hope the people of Market Drayton and the surrounding areas can take full advantage of the sessions throughout the summer.”
With parking and a café on site, The Zone is a great venue for the sessions – which will still go ahead in light rain. Should the weather be particularly bad, at least an hour’s notice of a class cancellation will be given on both the Park Yoga Market Drayton Facebook page and the Park Yoga website.
